Close proximity to Marist College.
I like very little about the Poughkeepsie Inn. We checked in at appx 7pm and checked out at 2am. We were in town for a Marist College basketball game, and drove three hours to attend. Upon arrival we noticed the outside area had limited lighting. When we entered our room we noticed soiled and worn furniture. The doors were scuffed and dirty. The worst was the discovery of stink bugs crawling in our room. There was no way we could sleep there. We are used to the equivalent comforts of a Courtyard hotel. Unfortunately, they were booked. I will certainly be applying for a refund.

It's pet friendly, which I needed as my daughter has a dog. The staff was friendly. There was no problem with late check-in (I did call). The room was clwan and tere was coffee in the lobby.
It's a pretty basic, no frills place - but the room was clean and had none of the problems I read about in some of the reviews, ie the room had no smell or mold and the fixtures all worked fine.

location to the MTA and locat area spots.
very old lookin. needs to upgrade the rooms and outside of the property. This place shows it's age. Also, should invest in new beding .

Pleasantly surprised at the cleanliness of the room.
Hotel seems rundown and need of improvements.

They overbooked so they didn't accommodate our 2 double beds in a non-smoking room and instead gave us a rollaway in a king non-smoking room, but the rollaway smelled like cigarette smoke.

I liked the fact that I was given a room at the very end of the building, where it was quieter.
I would've liked to have been able to put a "do not disturb" card on the door so that the housekeeper would've known not to knock on my door as early as he did.

The receptionist was very nice.
It was very cold and had only one blanket on the beds. Even though there was a heater, it was very loud to run and kept turning on and off and kept us awake. The bathtub faucet dripped loudly and constantly, so we had to keep the bathroom door closed. It was very cold in the bathroom, so we did not bother to use the shower. Even though it was a non-smoking room, the towels smelled of cigarette smoke, so we did not want to use them. The entire room smelled like a strong, perfumed air freshener which was very irritating and made it difficult to breathe.

Clean rooms, free wifi in rooms, nice comfort beds, great location just outside the highway but no noise. Nice breakfast, all in all good value for the money. I recommend this motel.

Proximity to sites.
Stayed 7/29/15Very old and outdated furnishings. Bathroom tiles cracked, paint chipping throughout. Faculty needs a make over badly. I need two things when staying at a hotel safety and cleanliness, I questioned both. Won't be back. Beeakfast was stall donuts and stall bagels.

That I only stayed 1 night, and not more.
Staff was rude at reception. Website asked if I wanted to check in earlier than 2pm and that room would be available. When I arrived sooner, my room was "unavailable", but when staff charged an extra $40, it magically became available immediately. Will never stay there again, and will recommend that anyone I know stay away and avoid using this facility. Rooms not clean, bathroom disgusting. If I had more time to make better arrangements, I would have. Only option on such short notice. Should close this place down, or at least have health dept look into it.
